The Foundation for Constitutional Education was established in Washington, D.C. in 1985 as a nonprofit educational foundation and was granted federal tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(3) organization in 1989.
Mission: Impart to citizens of the United States a fuller understanding of their rights and responsibilities as citizens and a basic understanding of how the representative form of government and free enterprise economic system should properly function.
The Foundation’s perspective is a biblical one, acknowledging God as the author and source of true freedom. The educational approach is to teach biblical principles, and supplement and illustrate these principles with constitutional and historical materials. With this basic understanding, citizens can be prepared to make sound decisions in electing their governmental representatives and communicating with them effectively. Although the Foundation encourages citizens to become informed about their government and public affairs, it does not support or oppose candidates for public office or engage in lobbying to influence legislation.
The Foundation has accomplished its educational mission through several means. From 1985 through 1997, the Foundation published The Declaration, a magazine containing biblical, historical, constitutional and economic studies. A class, God’s Word in Government, was also developed and taught from 1988 to 1992. In 1989, the Foundation conducted two educational tours of several sites in our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C.
In 2007, the Foundation incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in the State of Georgia. Many of its educational resources will now be made available on this web site.
